Every antique in this home carries a memory, every painting is original, and most textiles were woven on my own loom. This house is an extension of my life: my art, my travels through Europe, my life in Greece, and the joy of collecting interesting, beautiful things for my home. Whether you’re staying for a weekend escape or a longer retreat, I invite you to slow down and be transported — to our lively nook of the Bronx, and to the timeless oasis I have spent the last 40 years creating.

Perched on the second floor, this sun-drenched suite is a bright and welcoming retreat, filled with intriguing patterns and antiques collected over decades. Textiles from far and near add layers of texture and charm, while the airy layout invites you to slow down and escape the buzz of the city. With all day natural light and thoughtful details alive with character, this space is as comfortable as it is beautiful.

UNDER THE TREES GUESTHOUSE – The Downstairs Apartment

Step through the door of the downstairs apartment and into a space that feels delightfully out of time—rustic, eclectic, and full of character. With furniture brought back from Greece on a boat over forty years ago, the rooms carry a lived-in warmth that’s both comfortable and otherworldly, as if you’ve stumbled into a tucked-away European retreat. Earth tones and mid-century touches create a grounded, cozy atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day in the city.

Hi, I’m Naomi.

I believe a home should be enjoyed and shared. I opened my home up to guests almost 20 years ago, so at 87, you could say I’m somewhat a fixture in the neighborhood as the only guesthouse in the area. You’ll spot me walking around Riverdale, or tending to flowers in my garden, or sitting in my living room reading the newspaper. I like books, jazz music, weight lifting and good conversation.

I’ve filled this house with pieces collected over a lifetime, many brought back from my travels. I wouldn’t call this place fancy, but it’s personal, it’s interesting—every room has a bit of history, a bit of me, and I’m glad to share it with you. I want you to feel comfortable here, to make yourself at ease, and to enjoy the space as if it were your own.

A minimum stay of three nights is required.

Rates & Payment

  • Downstairs Apartment (up to 4 guests): $240/night + $100 cleaning fee
  • Upstairs Suite (up to 3/4 guests): $220/night + $100 cleaning fee
  • Weekly stays: 10% discount
  • Monthly stays: 25% discount (utilities capped at $200; guests pay any overage)

Booking deposit: A 50% deposit via Zelle is required to confirm your reservation.
Balance due: On arrival (Zelle or cash).

Cancellations

  • Full refund if cancelled 14+ days before check-in
  • Deposit is non-refundable if cancelled within 14 days of arrival

There is ample street parking and a local commercial garage nearby. A parking spot may be available for an additional fee.
